The Downloading Application Returns to the Google Play Store.

The Downloader App is officially back inside the Google Play Store!

The removal of Downloader a few weeks ago came after ridiculous copyright claims by a law firm representing Israeli TV companies.

But according to an article from AFTVNews, the popular Downloader App is now located inside the Google Play Store once again.

After doing a quick search in the Google Play Store for “Downloader” you should be able to find the correct page.

If you sideload Downloader while it was unavailable, you should uninstall the sideloaded version and install the Google Play Store version to ensure you have the latest app and continue to receive updates.

The developers of Downloader, AFTVNews, posted the news on social media:

My Downloader app is now back in the Google Play Store! Thank you to everyone that helped draw attention to its unjust removal. If you sideloaded the app, you should uninstall it and reinstall it from Google Play to ensure you receive updates. https://t.co/SH7mfM5zW7

Downloader is used by millions of cord-cutters like yourselves to sideload APKs not available in the Google Play Store.

If you are using an Android device and search for “Downloader” in the Google Play Store you should now be able to find the application.

The developer of Downloader, Elias Saba, commented the following on this shutdown:

“The Downloader App was offline for 20 days, all because the DMCA is broken with no consequences for people, or TV corporations half a world away, that choose to abuse it for their own benefit. While it was only unavailable for about 3 weeks, the app has now lost 47% of its active users compared to the day before it was removed.

If you’re willing, taking a minute to leave the app a positive review to help it recover from the downtime would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone that voiced your support for the app’s return and to all the great articles written about the app’s unjust removal.”

Overall, It’s great to see the cord-cutting community pull together and help draw attention to this unjust removal.

It will be interesting to see what unjust DMCA removals are to come in the future. Hopefully, the Downloader App is here to stay in the Google Play Store!

The popular Downloader app, used by cord-cutters to sideload APKs not available in the Google Play Store, has been officially reinstated to the store, according to the app’s developers, AFTVNews. It was removed from the store after Israeli TV companies made copyright claims; while it was only offline for 20 days, it has lost 47% of its users compared with the day before removal. Users who sideloaded the app should uninstall it and reinstall from the store to get the latest version and continue receiving updates.
